Oceania Regional Athletics Championships

The Samoa Sports Facilities Authority closed Apia Park a week prior to the games in order to prepare the park for the athletic events held.

Preparations inclulded the water blasting and cleaning of the synthetic race tracks, the preparation of the field for the field events such as the hammer throw, javelin and other events, the water jump for the steeple chase and many other adjustments and maintenance work to cater for the event.

During the Oceania Regional Athletics Championships the park looked immaculate and well cared for.

The majority of spectators at the games came from various schools in Upolu. The schools provided great entertainment for our international athletes, officials and guests with their cheering battles, singing and dancing.

SSFA also provided music and the schedule and results of the events were displayed on the score board to keep the spectators in tune with the order of events.
